Excellent monitor for the money
I bought this monitor because its technical info matches the more expensive Samsung models (which are my favorite). The monitor is just as good as the Samsungs.

Acer X233H
Image quality is very good. It has a DVI port and a VGA port. It also comes with a DVI cable, a VGA cable, and a power cable. No complicated features so it is very easy to set up. The buttons are on the bottom edge of the screen and require a little force to work them. The stand is noticeably flimsy when moving the monitor or pushing the buttons, but supports the monitor just fine. There is very little paper documentation, but since the monitor is truly plug and play, this is not an issue. Due to the very low cost, overall image quality, and features, I would say this is a product of exceptional value.

360/HDMI "handshake" issue
The only reason I didn't give this monitor 5 stars ...It has but one flaw .The Xbox 360 runs to the monitor via HDMI , and when I try to watch any downloaded content , i.e. Marketplace TV shows and such , the monitor can't seem to get past the HDCP "handshake" protocol . The "opening" bar appears at the top , the audio kicks in on the reciever , but the screen just goes black . And I mean really black , as in no signal . If I hit the "B" button and drop back to the dashboard , the display pops right back up . I can get around this by being on DVI , pressing start , and then flip it back to HDMI once I hear the audio come on , the video is magically on at this point . A deal-breaker ? No , but inconvienent . Other than this one problem , the monitor is un-believably awesome ,especially at 1920x1080 .

For the price (Less than 0) you get an excellent quality, perfect monitor, best resolution (1080P), and a big plus because you get a HDMI and some other cables too; and the monitor also comes with internal speakers, even thought they are not so good (But what do you want!? this is a monitor NOT A TV, so the speakers are a plus too).
I dont think you can find a 22" LCD Monitor Full HD for less than 0, like this monitor!

It is a good monitor for the price
You get what you pay for. I bought X233H it but quickly sold and replaced it with the much higher priced 20" Del 2007FP.

In many respect the X233H 23" widescreen was flawless. There were no bad pixels and the colors were bright. I had no complaints in viewing things such as photos of flowers, the desert, the ocean, or the sky. Photos of people were disappointing; probably because unlike flowers or the desert, etc., I can tell when skin tones are off.

It does text very well with high resolution. However, thing that are very lightly outlined such as the boxes you see on the internet asking to fill in your email, etc., sometimes are not visible like they are on most other monitors including a year 2000 CRT monitor.

On eBay if you click to view the automatic bids, you can tell the automatic bids are there, however the automatic bids are not readable unless you click and drag to highlight them, similar to how you copy and paste. Without highlighting, the automatic bids, that are easily readable on other monitors, are almost invisible on the X233H.

At Acer you cannot talk to a person. Everything is automated and their email tech support is worthless. I made six attempt to get an answer to find out if the condition I described above regarding the almost invisible boxes and automatic eBay bids are normal for the X233H and never got an answer. Well I got replies, but they were not answers. It was more like automatic computer generated replies based on key words in my messages.

However, to Acer's credit, I understand they have good warranty service, even if automated.

Basically, if you want an inexpensive 23" widescreen monitor and can live with the several deficiencies I described, the Acer 233H is a good buy. However, if you require better quality and good color reproduction, you will need to look for a smaller or more expensive monitor. For example, even though the Dell 20" 2007FP has a screen that has 15 percent fewer square inches, it is still almost twice as expensive as the X233H.

Great Monitor, Great Price
After striking out with a Samsung P2070, I returned it and a purchased this Acer. I couldn't have been happier. Plugged it in and it automatically adjusted itself perfectly. No tweaking, no messing with resolution settings, simple and excellent. The integrated speakers are adequate, and I love the HDMI input. I have both a Mac and PC, and like the multiple inputs so I can plug them both in at the same time and switch between the laptops easily. My only nag -- wish it had USB and headphone jack on it. However, for the $'s, this is a fantastic monitor!

Has 40000:1 contrast ratio, which is considerably higher than some similarly priced monitors.By way of comparison, the typical cost of a product with this high a contrast ratio is 0.Also, this monitor has 1920x1080 resolution, which is somewhat higher than some similarly priced monitors.By way of comparison, the average cost of a product with this high a resolution is 5.This monitor can eliminate the need to have PC speakers sitting on your desk?just plug your PC's audio into the monitor and use the speaker that it has built in.Its wide viewing angle (160 degrees) is useful whenever the screen is being viewed by more than one person at the same time.Accepts DVI input, which allows for greater signal clarity than traditional VGA.

if there's a better screen for the money...
I just bought this screen from BB (about o, + 18. for a mini dvi to dvi adapter. could have shaved from total if I had ordered online) and now I can't remember what life was like before I hooked it up to my macbook. the first review on this product page lays it out in terms of technical specs, and I don't know alot about that stuff anyway, so I won't bore you. I will say that I read a ton of user reviews, and for the money, this screen is very hard to beat. it's not very adjustable height-wise, but pretty much all relevant cables are included, except the mini dvi adapter, and the picture is fabulous right out of the box, no installs, no tweaking. it's possible that if you're looking to do some serious photo manipulation or graphic design you might need something up market, but for surfing, watching movie/tv downloads, basic photo/video editing, word processing etc, this can't be beat! highly recommended!!

A Monitor of great justice
This monitor is so good. As you may know, there is a zombie apocalypse going on and four brave warriors are struggling to take out these cursed undead. I was using my old 19" 4:3 LCD with 20,000:1 contrast ratio to view my remote avatar as he battled out the good fight.

But upon getting this new monitor it is like Paul on the road to Damascus - clearly I was blind before.

Now I can see the intricate details that are required to adequately fight off the hordes of the undead. Little bits of graffiti from survivors are now crisp and clear, easily read by flashlight.

And thanks to a KVM switch I can go back and forth between fighting zombies and earning the $money needed to keep up the up-link between my office and the remote-zombie-killing avatar.

Thanks Acer - I know you want me to save the world and now I'm doing it in style at a price I can afford.

I can't help but notice that in the zombie filled city, it's viewsonic monitors being trashed by the dead, while I watch in style with 40,000:1 contrast with my Acer.

No dead pixels, easy to setup, works with KVM, rocks harder, is shiny, has HDMI + VGA inputs, and is big and black and powerful like some ancient warrior rising from the Kingdom of Ghana to fight an anachronistic T-Rex plaguing the local villagers!

Great Product
I love this monitor! you never know how much you need it untill you have it! I've previeously owned a samsung syncmaster 730B loved it, but having this makes it look like a dwarf! I can have two program windows side by side now surf the web and read a pdf at once! The quality on the xbox 360 and ps3 is simply lovely! the only thing that is kind of a bit of a bugger for me is that when switching inputs sometimes it takes a little doing with the touch buttons. It's not as responsive as i would like with the monitor seeing the signal or the touch buttons on the front, however its a minor thing and for me not a huge reason to look else where. No dead pixels it works I love it! OUUU and its VESA wall mountable no one really talks about this but this is the first thing I look for in a monitor! This ability really clears up your desk!

Stunning colors, large screen, best buy!
I bought this 24" LCD monitor to replace my 17" crt. This is one sweet monitor! Right out of the box it worked perfectly. Lots of adjustment options. Vivid, crisp colors. I hooked up my DVD player and enjoyed HD movies in vivid color and detail. For the money, you just can't go wrong with this monitor.

Good quality, Low Price
For the price of this display the quality is quite good. Have not had any problems yet.

Cheap, bad colors. Barely acceptable in an office, definitely not for home
I ordered this monitor for the office and it is pretty good value for what I paid and this is the best I can say about it.

When reviewing electronics I am always tempted to list the 'goods' and the 'bads' but, in this case, except for the price, which is 'good' and the warranty provisions, which are ridiculous (read below), just about everything else is... bland. Not too bad but not exceptional either. So, let me list what's worth knowing about it and I will have a few closing thoughts after that.

- 1680-1050 display
- VGA and DVI inputs (no HDMI), cables included
- displayed colors appear to be a best effort approximation (they don't look very good, I meant to say)
- cheap-looking, black plastic body and stand
- plugs directly into the power outlet (no external power supply)
- color management is pretty basic with not the best 'buttons' interface
- disk includes 2-page setup manual and a registration form, no drivers
- same 2-page manual is included on paper, in many languages
- 3-year warranty 'excludes plastic parts' (I swear, it's a quote)
- warranty does not cover shipping/insurance costs
- make sure you save your original invoice and the original packaging or you may experience problems if you ever need warranty repairs
- stand tilts but it can't be raised/lowered
- energy-star compliant

This is an acceptable monitor if price is the primary concern. In my case, price was the primary concern because my boss had to approve the purchase and employers tend not to be over-generous with such expenses these days. Like I mentioned before, I would absolutely not have this monitor at home. It would probably be very bad for displaying pictures or playing movies and the design... it shouts "I'm a bare-bones-cheap monitor".

I am reluctantly granting this item 3 stars and 2 out of the three are awarded for its cheapness. The third star is for its actually displaying a picture and for its ease of setup - no software driver needed, and no external power supply.

UPDATE: The monitor seems unable to handle 'sleep' over the DVI connection. On my 32-bit Vista computer, every time my computer turns off the display (a power-saving feature), the monitor goes to sleep and it can never be reawakened if connected over the DVI. I had no choice but to remove the DVI cable and to connect over the old-fashioned VGA port. I've had no similar problems with the VGA so the root cause could be either the monitor being unable to process a 'wake up' call over DVI or my Vista machine misbehaving.

Great buy at 9 with no tax or shipping cost.
Bought the V223 and the X223 the same week for Christmas presents. Both offers at 9.99 with free shipping, sent to the same address. Most appreciated is that Amazon.com disguised the Acer box in one of their own, lowering the chances of porch theft.

Great monitor(s). X Model has a more modern-looking stand than the V223, although it takes up more space in front of the monitor. Tilts easily and stays set. No dead pixels, of course. Extremely easy hook-up. Great and bright and light, with a substantive three-year warranty. I would buy a third if I had a close friend or relative who needed one.

Couldn't be happier!!

Very satisfied with this flat panel display
I brought this display for my 21 year old son for christmas and he is going to be finishing up a degree as an electronic technician in May, so he is very picky and hard to please. But he is delighted with the size and quality of this display. I would recommend this monitor to anyone.
