Nice monitor for the price
This Acer monitor is nice looking. The display is very bright with no dead pixels. I don't use this monitor in a gaming arena so I can't comment on refresh rates in a gaming environment. It is used on a family PC for internet, homework and watching movies. It is well suited for that.

In bright daylight near a window, the display has a perfect brightness. At night with normal ambient light - too bright. The controls are a little awkward for me. There are double buttons to make adjustments. I am still dialing it in for the best overall appearance.

The text at higher resolution is not as clear as I would hope, but I got the VGA version and not the DVI.

I would recommend this monitor to anyone that wants a decent monitor but does not want to spend hundreds of dollars.

Beautiful!
My husband and I picked up two of these for ourselves for Christmas. Being gamers, our puny 15 inch "box" monitors just weren't cutting it anymore and we decided to spoil each other. The set up for both monitors took less than 10 minutes and was a breeze. The display is big, bright and crisp. It comes pre-programmed with several options for lighting, including one for text, graphics, video and more. When surfing, we switch to the text setting which dims the monitor enough to be easy on your eyes while reading. For gaming, it's a quick switch back to graphics for a bright, crisp picture that makes our game time that much more enjoyable. We don't watch videos on our computers, but we did pop in a DVD and switched to the video mode and it, too, was gorgeous.

I simply can't say enough about this monitor. For the price, it is well under other well known manufacturers in price but in no way sacrifices quality. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! For computer/gaming fanatics, you can't go wrong with this monitor!

Great Screen!
I just love this no nonsense Acer 19inch widescreen monitor. It was easy to set up and the picture is crisp. I did have to adjust the clarity to my liking, again this was simple with the buttons right on the front. I have external speakers on my computer so the fact that this monitor has no speakers suits me fine. I am not a gamer, but rather do a lot of word processing and surfing. All in all, the price is great, the warranty is for three years, the screen is crisp and bright, all the ingredients for one happy camper! I, with clear conscience, recommend this monitor!

LCD Monitor
The monitor was a great fit to my computer system. The shipping was phenomenal, it arrived a week before I even expected it. Great visual too!

It's okay, no problems for our purpose.
We bought this because we needed to put 2 monitors on one desk due to lack of room, so it was the perfect choice not only because of cost but for the room we needed. My husband and I need 2 computers to play online games together so it's perfect for what we need but the clarity is not perfect. The "maps" from our games are crisp and clean on my monitor but blurry on his. Like I said we only use it for games but I couldn't use it for Photoshop or anything I need clarity to perform fine details. You can read emails and type, stuff like that, with no problems but with side by side comparison with my monitor, it's just not as crisp as it should be...but again, perfect for what we need it for.

Good Resolution, Easy Installation. May have Problem
I bought because my laptop screen was cracked. monitor comes with intallation disc but also self installs after plugged into output screen jack. however this was done in safety mode and then rebooting. if your system has password it must be removed prior to installation. my dvd r/w drive stopped working after using this monitor although i am not sure if monitor software is the problem. resolution is excellent. acer tech support is easy to reach and helpful. they were unable to fix dvd problem. the software allows the user to set color and other parameters.

Very Satisfied, some suggestions
I have had this monitor for about a month and I am very happy with my purchase. I am running Windows XP on a six year old Gateway computer. I received the monitor in just two days. I would recommend this monitor for anyone who wants an LCD for an analog connection.

The following is for those individuals who find the size of text too small at a high resolution. At first, I tried different resolutions to make the text bigger via Display Properties (right click the desktop, choose properties, Settings tab). I didn't take long to realize this monitor should only run at 1280 x 1024 resolution for the best image quality. In order to compensate for my 48 year old eyes (going to need bifocals soon), I changed the DPI Setting (Display Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button). I recommend starting with Large size (120 DPI) and using that for awhile before making any more changes. If you find that to be too big as I did, choose Custom setting and reduce by about 5 percent to "119% normal size (114 dpi)". I found this Custom setting comfortable. If you still find it to be too big, reduce by another 5 percent and repeat until you find what's best for you. There will always be some web sites where the text is defined as very small and very difficult to read. In these rare instances, I copy the text and paste into Microsoft Word and change the font size.

Another change I made was to run the monitor at the highest screen refresh rate that's appropriate for this monitor. I've always found the higher the refresh rate, the better the image on the screen. However, keep in mind the monitor must work harder in order to do this. The manufacturer had the default settings for the highest resolution and the slowest refresh rate. If you change the refresh rate, check to see if the manufacturer's software changes it back to the default the next time you start up your computer. If so, you can uninstall the manufacturer's software to prevent this from reoccurring. To change the refresh rate: Display Properties, Advanced button, Monitor tab, put a check in the box "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display", after checking the box - my highest Screen refresh rate was 75 Hertz.

The display itself works great. Two things to watch out for: 1) tilt is limited and may not get you the angle you need; 2) cable connections on the back are fully exposed, a factor if you care about aesthetics as when the monitor won't face a wall. Other than that, it looks like a great display.

Great Device at great price
I bought this for my girlfriend maybe six months ago and she is in love with it. You get a great value for the price and the device is solid performance wise.

Excellent value
I have been using this monitor for about two months now, and I'm impressed. I have fairly high standards when it comes to displays, so I was hesitant to purchase a monitor that may cut corners to trim the price by a few dollars. After all, many of us spend hours each day staring at a monitor, so it better be decent; and, for its cost, this display is excellent: colors are crisp, contrast is great, standard resolution is nice (1680 x 1050), and we're given both both digital and analog inputs. I've experienced no blurring and no defects of any kind.

The monitor also provides you with complete control over color temperature, contrast, and brightness, and a handy little auto-adjust/quick-switch feature that lets you swap settings on the fly (if, for example, you go from reading a book online to playing a video game). There are no fancy controls here, but I haven't needed any.

I only have three complaints, and none of these are deal-breakers:

(1) The monitor is very slow to wake up. In both Windows and Ubuntu, when you move the mouse or press a key to wake it up, you'll have to wait about 5 seconds before it turns itself on. That may not sound like a long time, but if you're used to your monitor waking up immediately, it can be really annoying. I wouldn't even mention this, except that this is the first monitor I have ever owned that does this. It's strange.

(2) The backlight bleeds through around the edges when the screen is black. This is mostly an aesthetic flaw, and I don't believe it affects the quality of the picture, but seeing a strange halo around your screen definitely makes it look cheap. But you won't notice this when the display is lit up, so don't worry about it unless you're a perfectionist.

(3) The housing is cheap and unstable. Of course, this is a value monitor so we can't expect Apple's aluminum housing here, but this monitor wiggles like Galloping Gertie if you bump it. And it doesn't give you much flexibility when positioning it. While adjusting it, I worry that I'll break it.

Overall, this is a great monitor, and you're hard-pressed to find more bang for your buck in the 22" widescreen category. This is a great find!

Great value with some limitations
I purchased this as replacement for my 20" boat anchor CRT at work. The color is great. No dead pixels. The price was very reasonable compared to other, similar models. If it was more adjustable I would give it 5 stars. You can only tilt it vertically.

The only problem I had, and I totally own this since I should have checked, is that my Asus motherboard does not support the best aspect ratio for this monitor. It is a two year old board and is not very high end. I plan to pick up an inexpensive graphics card to solve the problem and keep the monitor.

This monitor was purchased as an upgrade for my 17" CRT and I'm totally happy with my decision. For the price it has good features and I was able to fix it to my fairly old system with minimum hassle.

However I was not able to get the optimum resolution of 1680x1050 on DVI with my Matrox G550 VGA with 32 MB but it works fine on VGA at the same resolution.

It came without any dead pixels has excellent colour balance, I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a 22" at a budget price.

I love my new Acer Monitor!
Not only did Amazon have the lowest price anywhere on this item, I ordered it on a Friday and Received it on a Monday, I couldn't beleive it!

It is replacing an old 15" monitor and I can't begin to tell you how much more I enjoy using my computer, because of this monitor.

I can't think of any cons against it, all pros!

Sometimes Amazon is just plain amazing!
My 6 month old HP 22in went down on me (bad panel button) and needed to be sent back to factory. Since I am employed online I needed an inexpensive replacement to tide me over. I ordered this at 11:30 Tuesday morning and it arrived at my home Thursday at 10:45 AM. This was mid December and I used only the free shipping option. Less than 48 hours...Simply amazing!! The monitor is much better than expected, arriving in pristine condition and every bit as good as my far more costly HP. I fully intend to get 2 more of these for my husband and son. Handles graphics well. Color and resolution just fine. Thank you Amazon for the great service and surprisingly good product.

I've been using this monitor for a couple of days and am very pleased with it. I do have some problems with the size of some things on the screen but they all have to do with some ancient programs which I can't enlarge or the size font used on a lot of web sites. I've managed to enlarge some things such as my browser frame and changed the font size on a lot of my documents to 14. I just hope I remember to change them back to 12 before I print them and that webmasters will start using larger fonts as more and more users switch to larger screens.

Ive had this lcd monitor for about 2months already and I have not seen any problems with it. Like you might have heard in other reviews, the response time is kind of slow, i dont even see the boot up options. Other than that is a pretty good monitor especially for the price.

The monitor came with a conspicuous dead pixel (permanently blue green) in the northeast quarter. Its a small detail for a monitor at this price, but definitely a sign of bad qa/qc. If you're willing to spend a little more, opt for Dell's new 22" 2209W which comes with a 3 year warranty (much better than Acer's pay-per-call 'service') and higher res (1080p equiv.).

Another story of the wrong model being sent....
I ordered the B223-bdmr from Target via Amazon but received the cheaper V223 bd. Similar model numbers but not the same item. Acer needs to do a better job of differentiating its models.

Amazon was easy with the return but I wasted about two hours in the process. I did set up the cheaper/non-tilt model and the picture looked fine but re-packing everything and getting to the post office had not been in my plans.

It might be a good idea to call this order in. You might get what you wanted without the return cycle.

I have been working in a computer lab with Acer monitors and thus far, they have performed well. If I were living my life as an on-line gamer, I might spend the extra for the performance edge but for general use, I think that the Acer monitors offer a nice balance of performance and value.

1/3/09 I received the replacement monitor and was not entirely surprised to find that Amazon had, once again, shipped me the V223 instead of the B223. Another couple of phone calls, some more on-line and another chance to repeat the details of the same problem....

Long story short-I get to wait for a refund and then can re-order the monitor after Amazon has worked out their inventory problems. In the end, my complaint is with Amazon for not getting this right. Twice.

In the fullness of time, I may find that I hate the monitor on its merits but not having seen it yet, I would not know.

Great pivot monitor
I bought this monitor for my wife to use in its portrait mode. Unlike most other wide screen monitors on the market, this LCD has the ability to pivot 90 degrees changing its landscape aspect ratio to a portrait aspect ratio.

The display looks bright and sharp in both orientations.

The change from one orientation to the other requires a bit of user input, either by hitting a key-combination or by choosing the desired rotation setting from a menu.

Fantastic low-end mintor
Great colors, sharp definition, & easy to install.

Sound quality is poor, however.

After reading reviews on several monitors I decided on this one. It is really nice and plenty big for these tired, old eyes. Very pleased with this product.
